'He lay and watched his birthday tick nearer, wondering if the Dursleys would remember at all, wondering where the letter writer was now.' --- J.K.R.
Macavity scowled at the growing fruits around him. Though it was summer all year round at Camp Half-Blood, his heart was trapped in winter. "Eighteen..." he sighed, staring out at the darkening sky. It was the winter solstice, the darkest day of the year, and the boy was sure everyone had gone. It was the meeting-day after all. All the Olympians together, deciding what would happen next. Yet... Macavity sat amongst the strawberries, alone. "Happy birthday to me... Happy birthday to me..."

Damien had chosen not to visit his mother on Olympus today. He'd seen her quite enough in his dreams lately, and she wasn't even an olympian goddess. She belonged in the underworld as sea gods and goddesses belong in atlantis. Or whatever Posiden's kingdom/palace was called. The only reason she got invited to everything the gods did on olympus is because of what happened prior to the trojan war..... Anyway, The child of chaos was still in camp, wandering the vacant grounds. He was now in the forest, walking towards the edge, where the trees meet the strawberry fields. As Damien peered out from behind the trees, he saw his boyfriend sitting alone amongst the little fruits and wondered why he was alone. Hadn't Macavity gone with everyone else? Then again, Erebus was a god of the underworld as well...Nyx, Erebus, and almost all of their children were underworld gods. Could that be why he stayed? He didn't think his father would be there? No......IT WAS MACAVITY'S BIRTHDAY!!!! How could Damien have forgotten!? Well, needless to say Damien felt horrble about forgetting his boyfriend's birthday. The child of chaos ran back deeper into the forest to hide. Unfortunately he stepped on many twigs and nocked over rocks and such, which made alot of noise as he ran.

Macavity swung his head around, hearing noises in the nearby woods. He thought he saw someone running, but he shook his head sadly, staring at the ground in disbelief. "Hey there, Shadow-Head." Macavity looked in the direction of the familiar voice- Vincent Taylor, son of Aphrodite, the cause of his unrest. "What are you doing here?" the newly eighteen-year-old spat, throwing mental daggers at the intruder. "Shouldn't you be visiting your 'Maman' on Olympus?" Cen smirked, walking over to crouch beside his enemy. Gripping the other boy's shaggy, black hair, he pulled the head back to make Macavity look at him.
"No, I shouldn't be. I need to give you your present, loser." Macavity's head ached from the boy's iron grip. "Want to know what it is?" Vincent pulled the boy's hair harder for not answering fast enough. He laughed at the adult's evident pain, fingering the dove around his neck with his free hand. A single khopesh slid into Vincent's hand, and he pressed the tip into Macavity's hand, droplets of blood forming on the celestial bronze. Macavity stared hard at him. "You really think that will hurt me, Vincent?" He grimaced as the blade cut deeper into his taut skin.
"Actually, moron, I do... but I have something more painful than that for you." Cen pulled on the boy's hair again, forcing him to look into cold, stormy grey eyes. "I am the cause of all this. All that you are feeling. The danger you so desperately try to avoid, to stop, is all because of me." He smirked, slashing Macavity's palm. "I-I'll tell everyone about it then! You can't stop me from uncovering the truth." Vincent had already turned his back to the crouching young man and began to walk away. Flashing a winning grin to the eighteen-year-old, Cen shot back, "You think they will listen to you, Shadow-Head? Don't make me laugh." All the man could do was stare.
"Happy birthday, moron." With that, the child of doves was gone.

((I HAVE FINALLY POSTEDDDDD!!!!!!!!!!!!!! lol, i fail <3))
Damien had run back to his cabin really quick to grab some chocolate from his secret chocolate stash. Sure, it wasn't much of a birthday gift, but it was better than absolutely nothing. He stuffed the chocolates into his backpack and grabbed the pack, swinging it over his shoulder before bolting out of the room.
The child of chaos ran as fast as his long legs could carry him (which, being long-legged, made for a pretty fast runner/sprinter of course) across the camp to where he had last seen his boyfriend. But when he arrived at the edge of the strawberry field, Damien saw Vincent with Macavity. It was obvious the Aphrodite camper was harming the child of darkness, before getting up and starting to walk away.
Damien glared at the slightly taller camper, his hatred and anger boiling up quickly at the sight of his boyfriend in pain. The child of chaos dropped his backpack and charged at Cen, full-speed. When he was almost there he shouted loudly before tackling the child of doves to the ground. This of course caused Damien to mess up Cen's hair, as well as get grass stains and strawberry juice all over the Aphrodite camper's clothes. The same stains and grassy-hair mess ended up on Damien as well, but the child of chaos was a mess-cat by nature so it didn't bother him.
Before the older camper could do anything, Damien rolled away, and scrambled to his feet, reaching into his pocket for his apple. "Don't you ever touch Macavity ever again!" The freckle-faced teen half-screamed defiantly, glaring fiery-cobalt blue daggers at Vincent.

Vincent grimaced at the challenger, faltering only to touch his dove pendant, the other khopesh slipping into his ready palm. His hair was something NO ONE could touch. "Do you know what you're doing, little chaos, going against the top warrior in this camp? I was just giving Shadow-Head a little warning. A birthday gift, if you will." He reached his arms out to Damien, the khopeshes' sharp edges facing the younger camper. Cen's eyes seemed to glow as he said a single word- "Prepare."
Macavity had been fine, just bleeding quite a bit, as his boyfriend tackled Vincent to the ground. Cen's hair was ruined, and that was never a good sign. He couldn't make out what was being said, but the aura around the combatants was dangerous. The child of darkness stood, holding out his bleeding palm. "Please... P-please... don't fight him, Damien. Cen is powerful, I'll admit it, but he can only destroy." Charm-speaking was evident as the Aphrodite boy's eyes began to glow, arms rising as if to strike.
"You, Damien Romero, son of Eris, will prepare for my strike. I do not wish to kill you now..." Vincent smirked. "I prefer to leave you waiting like a pig for slaughter."

Damien stood, shaking slightly, clutching his apple. The child of chaos didn't hear his boyfriend's words, too focused on his opponent. As Cen started to speak, Damien felt the need to cover his ears, and did so quickly. unfortunately he dropped the celestial bronze apple to do so, and he could still hear Vincent through his own hands. He started to hum "The Catalyst" by Linkin park so as to ignore the Aphrodite camper's words more effectively.
Mean while, when the apple hit the ground it suddenly formed into a small swarm of mosquitoes, and then the little bugs flew at Vincent, taking small bites out of him, and sucking his blood a bit.

Vincent snarled at the swarm of insects, swatting at them ineffectively with his dual swords. He whirled round upon Damien, leaving a cut upon his cheek. The mosquitoes continued their assault, and he glared at the two young men before dashing away, shouting "I will have your heads by the end of this damned war!"
Macavity ran to Damien, producing a face towel through a portal-shadow. "A-are you okay, D-damien?" He flinched, hand still in pain. "I-" Macavity's vision was getting spotty, covering his vision with black patches. "I... love you..." With that, the boy slipped into unconciousness... What a birthday...

Damien winced as Vincent's blade cut into his cheek. It stung a little and was a bit of a shock. As Cen ran off, shouting over his shoulder, the child of chaos felt uneasy. The threat of war was quite unsettling.
Macavity was then pressing a face towel to the freckled boy's cheek, and asking if he was ok. Suddenly, the birthday-boy seemed distant as he spoke to Damien, before collapsing. The shaggy-haired teen reached out and grabbed his boyfriend to keep him from hitting the ground. The child of chaos slowly lowered Macavity to the ground. He then took of his sweatshirt and rolled it up before placing it under the adult's head. Worried, and unsure of what to do now, Damien sat by Macavity's side, watching him closely to make sure he was still breathing, and praying to the gods that his boyfriend would be ok. Meanwhile, the swarm of mosquitoes flew back to Damien and formed back into an apple next to him in the grass.

Darkness.
No. Nonononono. Macavity bolted up, huddling into himself, still ever encased in shadows... Since when had he begun to fear the dark, to fear death? "Hello, Macavity." The young man looked up, startled, into eyes of a deep brown so like his own orbs. "I see you made it home for your eighteenth birthday." "F-father...?" The god stood back, offering his hand. Macavity took it with his uninjured, being helped to stand by his god-parent.
"Who else would it be, son?" He said with a grin, looking over his firstborn son (well, in the last century, anyway). "You got tall. And your voice... tenor two, yes?" Macavity nodded, a smile upon his lips, and upon realization, he blurted- "Wait, home? The U-underworld? Am I... d-dead?" Erebus laughed, booming. "No, you haven't parted from your beloved boyfriend just yet," the god teased, lightly punching his son's shoulder. "I just needed to bestow a gift upon you." The demigod sighed in relief. Knowing that he'd see Damien again made this experience so much less terrifying, somehow, like a promise never to be broken.
"Dad? You don't have to-" Macavity's words were cut off by a wave of his calm father's brusque wave. He bowed his head with respect. "Thank you, father." Feeling a ruffle of his hair, the demigod looked up at Erebus. The god of shadows was smiling, and he looked perfectly content in the inky blackness. "Macavity, she is not a normal gift. Actually, her name is Elliot, and she will meet you back in camp. Be warned- she can a handful."
Obviously confused, Macavity just blurted out more words of thanks. The god of darkness placed a hand on his young son's shoulder, worry lines on his forehead. "Listen to me, Macavity. There is foul play at work here. The air reeks of it- betrayal, death, sorrow. Make no mistake about Vincent's warning. We may yet perish at the hating hands of the love goddess. Even the gods may not have the power to stop an army of creatures, and there are whispers... warnings..." The warm eyes grew cold, and the god of shadow spoke with haste. "Promise me that you will not leave the borders again, unless so required. I need you alive, for you will shed the light upon this matter of deception." He gave the boy a quick embrace. "Breathe easy for now, son. Darkness ever shall cloak you."
With that, the god melted into the shadows, and the young man woke up in a daze. Where... am I...? It's s-so... bright......

Damien had carried Macavity to the infirmary, knowing there wouldn't be anyone there. Once there, The child of chaos laid his boyfriend on onto one of the cots in the room. He cleaned and wrapped the adult's wounds in bandages. The wound on the shaggy-haired teen's face stung but the pain had dulled greatly due to his concern for Macavity.
Damien pulled up a chair next to the cot and was now waiting for the child of darkness to wake up.

Through half-lidded eyes, the injured boy saw bright blue orbs framed by frizzy red locks. Confused, he whispered to the unfamiliar, pale face- "Elliot...?" The face nodded and pulled away to reveal a young girl, grinning from ear to ear. "Είσαι ξύπνιος, ο αδελφός? Αυτό είναι καλό. (You're awake, brother? That's good.)" "Uh... Ν- nαι ... Είμαι, αδελφή. I am, sister..." It'd been a while since Macavity had spoken in Greek, so it came out more like a whispery croak. He opened his eyes fully. Seeing him moving, the young girl looked to his right, winking. "Θα σας αφήσει δύο μονά. Ήταν αρκετά μια μέρα. (I'll leave you two alone. It's been quite a day.)"
The young man nodded, dumbfounded, as Elliot left the infirmary. Noticing Damien beside him in a chair, Macavity broke into a smile, and sighed in relief. The relief soon turned to worry at the expression on his boyfriend's face. "What's wrong, love...? D-did you see her, too? Or... am I going crazy?" He looked at his wrapped hand, and felt the need to undo the bandages. Under them, his palm was completely healed, a pale scar crossing itself over the wound like a rose. The child of darkness looked at Damien in confusion. "How did this happen to me...? How...?"

Damien heard his boyfriend stir, and leaned forward onto the cot with a concerned/anxious expression. When Macavity finally opened his eyes and spoke to the child of chaos, Damien responded by mega-hug-glomping his beloved boyfriend. "YOU'RE OK!!!!!" He shouted in joy.
The freckle-faced teen let go of his love, and backed off to stare at him a bit, relieved that Macavity was alright. Damien still didn't seem to notice the cut on his own cheek or the dried blood on his face, but that was ok because his boyfriend was fine <3. "Uhh...see who?" He responded to birthday-boy's question, tilting his head in slight confusion.
When the child of darkness started to unwrap his bandages, Damien scolded him until he saw the older boy's wounds had healed. "What the-?" He asked, quite confused now.

"I-it looks like a rose..." He whispered. Looking up at Damien, confusion writ upon his face, he continued. "I-I'm fine... She healed me, Damien. Are you sure you didn't see?" Panic bubbled up inside him, and with his newly-healed hand, Macavity grabbed the child of chaos by the collar of his shirt. "My father! He-" Releasing his boyfriend, both hands flew up to cover his own eyes. "A warning about Vincent, a feeling of dread, and a blessing, a girl... no, a phasma!"
Manic pain and fear were all over Macavity's face as he looked back up, into two pairs of blue eyes. Elliot had returned at the sound of his worried voice. "Εξηγήστε τον εαυτό σας με τον ίδιο, την αδελφή! Μπορείς να τον αφήσει να δει? (Explain yourself to him, sister! Can you let him see?)" He cried out in flustered Greek, holding his rose-scarred palm out to her. "How is this possible, Elliot?"

"She? Didn't see who? Macavity, we're the only two people here..." Damien said, growing more concerned for his boyfriend's mental health by the second. "Who healed you?" The son of Eris asked. Suddenly Macavity had Grabbed Damien by the collar, shocking the younger boy. Damien's boyfriend released his shirt collar started talking of warnings and dread and a phantasma-whatever that was. "Macavity, calm down, please." He tried to speak in a soothing voice but it sounded more like a meek whisper. Now The child of darkness was crying out in Greek. Damien had a hard time with languages, he could understand them well enough but he couldn't possibly speak them back, except maybe German... "Mac, please please calm down." Damien insisted, wondering why Macavity seemed to believe there was a girl in the room.
"Well, well, well." A voice rang out from the doorway of the infirmary in a crisp Scottish accent. "If it isn't my long lost, Day-day" ((Day-day is Alarik's nickname for Damien))
Damien suddenly froze, his eyes widening in great fear and absolute shock. He started to break out in a cold sweat and dared not to even look behind himself towards the door where the voice had come from.
A red-head man leaned against the door frame by one of his arms, the sleeves of his blue blazer rolled up to above his elbows. A cigarette hung from the man's mouth as he half smirked, half grinned. He wore a white shirt with an untied black tie, and his legs were crossed at the shins as he leaned on the frame.
The man took the cigarette from his mouth and exhaled a small cloud of smoke before slowly starting to walk into the room with quite a sexy swagger. He flicked a few ashes from his cigarette when he was halfway over to Damien, then placed the cancer stick back into his mouth and continued walking without breaking pace.
"Come now, lad, it's rude to ignore your mate, now isn't it?" The red-haired man asked, now behind the child of chaos. He seemed to be ignoring Macavity, or had not taken notice to him yet since his attention was completely focused on Damien.

With a squeak, Elliot dashed behind him, hiding herself from view (though from what Macavity could tell, no one saw her anyway) in fright. "Αδελφός... Brother..." He heard a bewitching voice and turned to it, forgetting the warning temporarily as a potential threat arose. Someone was making Damien uncomfortable... Was that a kind of boyfriend-sense? Macavity didn't know, but he sat up to get a better look at the intruder, choking on the smoke that filled the room. "By the gods..." he whispered in awe. The man was gorgeous- auburn hair that glinted like blood, and his eyes... Two different, spectacular colors in one place. The healed man couldn't help but stare, in enraptured silence, drinking in the fumes and sight of this beautiful face. But... he was an enemy, right? Why else would Damien act that way? "W-who... are you?"
