Ren stood at the property line, looking outside the barrier at the world that stood beyond. The mortal world, a place contaminated by monsters, a death zone for demigods. He somehow felt like Camp Halfblood sometimes lacked in fresh air even, as though the barrier blocked even that. This was unusual for him, the happy-go-lucky green-thumb demigod, but he felt like a plant that was being suffocated but kept prisoner because of its roots.
Ren looked at the bark on the old oak and put the palm of his hand on it. He wondered what the tree had seen through its years here, and if ever grew tired as well.

A ways off from the property line, Hedge began to pant. He had been running from the road to camp, especially after that chimera came from nowhere. The added weight of a packed backpack obviously didn't help. It wasn't too far now; he could see the gate. Calling on his natural state, the young satyr dashed across the property line, almost crashing into someone at the old oak tree. Ren.
"He-hello..." it came out as a wheezy whisper. Hedge put his hands on his knees, bent over, trying to slow down his heart rate. His hair was plastered to his forehead from sweat and his tie was crooked. Noting the young man's hand on the oak, Hedge bleated quietly. "I... I inter- interrupted something, d-didn't I? S-sorry..."

Ren was surprised to have the Satyr crash into him, he didn't expect anyone to have come running by. Of course, no one knew when a new camper was coming by or when a Satyr would even get back to camp, but he it still caught him off guard. Ren looked at Hedge with wide eyes and a slightly gaping mouth before he shook his head to get his thoughts together. "No, you didn't interrupt anything at all, actually." he stated. "Is something wrong?"

"Still, I apologize." The satyr righted himself, extending a hand. "Hedge Greendale, at your service. Here for bi-monthly report, but got a bit sidetracked by a chimera a bit back." Nervously, he bleated out a little chuckle. Truly this young man was a son of Demeter, for he sensed a natural commonality between them both, setting him at ease.

"Glad to have you back, safe and sound." stated Ren, shaking Hedge's hand. "The name's Ren Mera, son of Demeter. So, what did you see out there beyond the barrier?" He looked past the satyr to the rolling hills beyond the boundary of camp. It must have been interesting to be a satyr out there in the real world.

"Ah, just the usual, lad. Though, there are more and more monsters showing up in the NYC area. Brooklyn is crawling with them." Hedge pushed his glasses up a bit. "Less demigods, too. We've got a bunch of them in here now." His mouth set itself into a small smile. His hunch was right.
"A son of Demeter? Ah, so I guess you know Ivy, then? Or not. She was a good girl..." Shaking himself out a bit, Hedge readjusted the bag on his shoulder. He bleated quietly once more, nervous about his impending meeting with the Cloven Elders. "I should go, Ren. I'm sorry for bugging you."

"It's alright, you actually weren't bugging me at all." Ren replied. He scratched his head. "I should get going as well. Sorry for stalling you, good luck!"

((Hakuna matata, lovely! I know you're busy, so no worries~))
Hedge shifted between his covered hooves a little before giving Ren a short bow and scampering off, shouting "Thank you, Son of Demeter! This kindness will be repaid!"
((I'm so sorry for having to bolt off, though...))
