It was late Alex walked through the camp. He couldn't get any sleep in his cabin, so he grabbed his weapons and silenty left his cabin. He walked down to the track before he sat downin the empty stands and checked his watch. 12:45 A.M. "I wonder if anyone else is awake at this hour?" he asked himself before laying back and staring up at the stars.

Adrianna, the "new girl" at camp, wasn't used to sleeping in a cabin. She had always slept alone, in an apartment with her mum, who was now deceased. She grabbed a small pocket knife from her bunk and went outside. The cool air hit her and she sighed longingly for the world outside of camp. She walked until she saw someone. Being shy, she kept on walking.

Alex's keen sense of hearing picked up the sound of footsteps and his bow was drawn in a split second. He notched an arrow and took aim, only to see a form of a girl. He lowered his bow and put his arrow back in his quiver. He walked over and placed his hand on the girl's shoulder.

Adrianna turned around startled. Out of instinct, she drew her pocket knife. Taking a deep breath, she withdrew it and put it back in her pocket. "Sorry to have disturbed you. I couldn't sleep well in my cabin and. . . Well, I decided to walk around." She gently moved his hand away and stood in front of him.

"I had the same idea as you did." He said as he slung his bow over his shoulder "By the way, I'm Alex."

Adrianna smiled slightly and nodded. "I'm Adrianna." She hadn't talked to anyone other than her cabin mates. Talking to someone other than that felt good. She felt the loneliness slowly lifting from her heart.

Alex looked around for any sign of the cleaning harpies, when he realized it was safe he continued, "You wanna sit down, or find a place to stay hidden from the harpies?"

Adrianna smiled. "Yeah, sure." She brushed her bangs out of her eyes and put her hands in her pockets, fiddling with the small knife in it.

Alex sat on a bench and gestured for the girl to sit down next to him

Adrianna walked toward him and sat down. She sighed and looked at the night sky.

Adrianna turned towards him and smiled slightly. "Yeah. I don't get to see it often. It was always too light polluted to see the stars like this where I used to live.." She said, a frown threatening her lips.

"I lived in South Dakota, in the heart of rural America. I spent several nights on my roof watching the stars" Alex explained. "I'd be out there for an hour or two just spotting constellations with my laser pointer." he pointed upward "There's Orion right up there."

Adrianna looked up and smiled. "Oh yeah. I see it." She looked back down at the floor. "I've lived in New York for as long as I could remember. I liked in a small apartment with my mom not too far from camp." She said, not wanting to say more. She knew that if she said more, she'd collapse right then and there.

Alex dug around in his sleep pants pockets and pulled out a pair of glasses before sliding them onto his face. "My step-grandpa taught me everything I know about stargazing, I've loved observing the cosmos ever since."
